AUDITION: QUEER HOUSE TEAM
Sawubona Creativity Project is hosting open auditions:
June 16th, 2026 at 7:00pm-8:00pm
June 20th, 2026 between 12pm-5:00pm
Queer Team — an ongoing long-form house team that will rehearse and perform at Sawubona on a regular schedule. The team will decide together with the director on the official team name. Rehearsals will begin focused on a variation of the Armando improv form, the opening consisting of a series of true-life monologues.
We’re Looking For:
Experienced improvisors who have taken at least a level 201 improv class
Performers with a distinct voice and point of view
People who identify as Queer and/or LGBTQ+
Queer Team is Directed by: Masha Makarova
Commitment: If you are cast and join the team, you must attend 80% of shows and rehearsals. Repeated absences will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in being asked to leave the team.
Rehearsals:
Every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, 1pm - 3pm
Starting July 12th, 2026
Shows:
Every 2nd (and possibly 4th) Friday of the month at 7pm
Compensation: This is a volunteer performance position. Team members will receive bi-weekly coaching sessions, one complimentary ticket for a guest to every Queer Team show, and a 10% discount on classes at Sawubona Creativity Project.
